I didn't even know that this was a book until my husband made me watch Twilight. He put it on & went to sleep (he works nights), knowing that I couldn't work the 15 thousand remotes we had around the house at the time. Needless to say I fell in love, I had to have more. At that time New Moon had just been released on DVD so I jumped on that & that still wasn't enough so off to the store I went & purchased all 4 of the books & read them all in 3 days! Books are always better than the movies. So for that I owe my husband & Stephenie Meyer because it had been years since I had read anything YA & I haven't stopped since reading this series =).
Bella is a very shy, clumsy girl who is moving back to Forks, WA from Phoenix, AZ to live with her dad. She is starting all over in a new school, in a tiny town, so she is the main attraction for most of the people. One good thing is she knows at least one person from the area, Jacob, but he lives on the reservation & doesn't go to her school. Bella is slowly adjusting to her first day at school when she meets Edward. Edward looks at her with immediate hatred & Bella doesn't know why. She was going to confront him about his issues but he wasn't in school & by the time he came back he was like a different person.Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife—between desire and danger. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
Jacob tells her of the legends of their tribe & reveals what Edward really is, not a regular 17 yr student, but a vampire. She kinda takes the news as shock but doesn't reveal that to anyone, she does a little bit of research on it but pretty much just accepts it.
Bella finally gets the chance to confront Edward about this new found information & he doesn't deny it, he answers all her questions & the love begins. He has been waiting for 80 yrs for his love to come by & there she is. Bella being 17 doesn't believe in true-love but there he is.
The love in this story is, yes a insta-love, but it works. You are just as much in love with Edward as Bella is. Edward is very protective of her, always there when she needs him, shows up at the most random times, listens to everything that she has to say like it's the most interesting thing he has ever heard. Edward may be able to read minds, but not hers. Something that drives him crazy & Bella is forever grateful for.
There is some action in this novel as we have the bad guy, we always have a bad guy. You see the love & compassion that not only Edward has for Bella but his entire family as well...minus Rosalie. I love Alice! She is the fun, witty one that can see the future pretty much to the T. I love the world that Stephanie created in Twilight, when I heard of "vampire", my first reaction was blood drinking, kills the whole town, can't go out in the day type thing like most others do because that is how I've always seen them (thanks to TV). But here we have them nice & sparkly, they can go out in the day...just can't be all sunshiny. Of course not all the vampires here are nice, there are some quite evil ones as well.
To sum it up, I loved this book, I couldn't wait for the 2nd one. I still love to read this series & cannot wait for Breaking Dawn part 1 so for the next couple of Tuesdays I will have the Twilight saga posted & other posts if I have more to share!
