I must first that I haven’t anything quite like Everneath
before. It was definitely a good change up. I loved the mystery of Nikki’s
story all the way up to when everything was revealed. This was a very emotional
read, especially towards the end! I loved how it switched scenes from before
the Feed, during, and what is going on now afterwards. The way things are
described it’s as if you’re right there with Nikki.
Cole is a very interesting character. He is a Everliving
so he isn’t suppose feel any emotions himself, just Feed off them. Throughout
he tells Nikki that they are meant to be together because he wants her to rule
Everneath with him. I was left wondering if Cole could really feel anything,
does he love her or care about her? It sure seemed like it to me. I would have
liked to know more about how or why Cole has picked Nikki as the one to be with
him (besides what is given to use in Everneath).
The love in this novel is so beautiful. Jack has loved
Nikki, or Becks as he calls her, since she first moved to town and she has
always loved him. After she comes back he gives her space but is constantly
there for her in case she opens up or needs him. She finally does open to him
about literally everything and now absolutely nothing can come between them. I
found myself sometimes frustrated with how Nikki acted but I know and
understand why she is that way. She was trying to be brave and make up for
things that happened before she just up and left again.
This is a dark captivating read that will have your
emotions all over the place, full of love and sacrifice. Overall I enjoyed this
book a lot and would definitely recommend it to others. I got through it in
just hours because it was just too good to put down.

I'm glad you loved this book. It is my favorite of all the 2012 books I've read so far!
ReplyDeleteJack is such a sweet character and their love feels real. I don't get the people that are Team Cole. Cole serves as a human embodiment of addiction, at least to me.
Great review!
I loved this book so much too! I read it in 2011, can't wait for the rest of the series!
ReplyDeleteDidn't Everneath just rocked! I loved it! Nice review!
ReplyDeleteGreat review Shel Shel I really enjoyed this one too. I loved the romance in it and you also have to realize that she was acting a certain way sometimes because of Cole. he was manipulating her feelings, putting doubts in her etc. It was all brilliant really!! :D
