Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee. Everything changes when you’ve looked at the world through . . .
ANGEL EYES
Brielle’s a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can’t seem to shake.
Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.
Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start.
A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.

Angel Eyes is
about good vs evil, choices and their consequences, and finding the meaning
behind everything. Brielle, our main character, has suffered a tremendous loss
of losing her best friend and is coming back home to mend herself until the
trial of the said killer. During this time back home she meets the new boy in
town, Jake, and progress from there.
We get to see everything from three different views in Angel Eyes, the transition was sometimes
a smooth change-over and others I had to remember what or where that character
left off in the story to get back into it. I liked the pacing of the story and
the unveiling of the secret that Brielle had been holding on to with the recent
horrific event in her life.
I like that she was able to question things and not just
accept them for what they were and she seemed to realize what would happen if
she went one way or the other. Of course we had the love interest but some good things are - 1) it wasn't insta-love and 2) there aren't any triangles here so no fighting over who gets who and all that good jazz. Jake is a great character as well, although we
really didn’t see much of his side until the very ending so I'm waiting for the
next installment to learn more about his side and his feelings.
Now, we all know that I'm a Twilight fan so I was literally laughing at some of the things that was in Angel Eyes. I shared one as my Teaser Tuesday but I think I'll share it again here because it makes me smile every time I read it!
Did I miss something spectacular about the kid this morning? Does he sparkle in the sunlight? Does he have fangs? What?
The teacher raps his ruler against the blackboard to garner attention, and I roll my head sideways to get a better look.
Yeah. It's him.

Angel Eyes was
a light and enjoyable read, for me it didn’t go too much into the religious side
and wasn’t a book that made the reader feel uncomfortable with the subject. I
can’t wait to see what Shannon has in store for the characters in books to
come, I’ll definitely be waiting to read more about them.

Lol the Twilight reference made me chuckle too. This was a pretty good angel book but a it too religious for my taste as well. Great review Shel Shel! :D
ReplyDeleteYAY! Loved this book as well. Ah, Twilight! LOL! Nice review :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your gracious review, Shellie! One of the most awesome parts about this book blog is meeting all of you and seeing just what kind of books you read. I adore your blog and I will definitely be back. THANK YOU for featuring Angel Eyes!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an okay book. Being that I am not super into angel books it never really caught my interest. Great review. The Twilight reference is pretty funny.
